UrbanX visits the Department of Nuclear Medicine

20th March 2011
This week I have spoken at length with Dr Buscombe - Consultant Physician in Nuclear Medicine, Royal Free Hospital London about revisiting the exclusion around Chernobyl. Most people visit the zone for around 4-5 hours, but I am planning something special later this year and need to discuss my mission with a specialist.

He is currently lecturing at University College London, and Kings College London. As well as lecturing in over 70 countries, authoring 4 successful books, and publishing an astonishing 151 papers, he has visited the zone many times himself, so was more than qualified to answer my questions.

We spoke at length about limiting radiation exposure times as well as how to avoid ingesting any contaminants during eating, drinking and showering. One can spend all day avoiding silly radiation risks and then eat rice or salad in the evening prepared with contaminated water.

The doctor has allayed my concerns, and outlined the risks…. Watch this space for an announcement very soon…
