41. Birch House

So following an excited email from fellow explorer Em_UX, it turns out a property which we’d both past many times now had a big “Derelict House For Sale” sign out the front.

So the next available Sunday before our ‘big’ explore of the day we took a walk in the woods to see what we’d find…



The house isn’t massive, although it does have a lot of charm, and I used to deliver to it on my paper round.




There is an absolutely charming green house in the garden:


Note the small panels of colour in the corners of the glazing:

There were a few really old workshops towards the rear of the garden (over 2 acres) with some old precast concrete memorabilia. Note the spelling “Munday”


We were just about to leave we noticed one more building in the bushes, right off the beaten track…



OMG! An old Merc! It was dusty, and musty, just slightly lit by the light dappling in between the ivy:

I know it’s a different colour, but the reason I chose this one as an example is because it was recently sold for a shade under £26,000. Here:
